Caesarstone vs. Generic Quartz: What $180K in Countertop Orders Taught Me

Every contractor hits the same crossroads: a client's kitchen renovation, two countertop quotes on the table, and the cheaper one looks almost too good to pass up.   • The client expects a warranty that means something if a defect appears.
  • A redo would cost more than the countertop itself—which is true of almost any commercial job.

Generic quartz or gray-market products can make sense when:

  • The project is low-stakes: a rental renovation, a quick flip, a single slab with no future matching needed.
  • There's no timeline pressure and the client is flexible on schedules.
  • You and the client accept—explicitly—that there is no warranty and no recourse.

Look, I'm not saying Caesarstone is right for every job. I am saying that “cheap” and “expensive” are the wrong categories to think in. The right categories are “certain” versus “uncertain.” When you calculate TCO with redo risk, delay exposure, and warranty enforcement in the mix, the gap closes surprisingly fast. Sometimes the premium option is genuinely the cheaper one.
